My dad bought these “gung zhai peng” (mooncake biscuits) from Yee Hup when he was back in Ipoh recently. Yee Hup is the shop in Gunung Rapat that is famous for its Hiong Piah.
What I like about them is the packaging.
They are wrapped in kraft paper. Nice? Very traditional-looking and eco-friendly too.
One roll consists of 6 little biscuits with lotus paste filling. They are delicious too. I wonder if they have this type of biscuits all year round or only during the Mid-Autumn Festival.
this is way better than those traditional wrapping in red hah… so colourful and vibrant!
So darn cute! We don’t get to see these much nowadays. All come with fancy modernized box and wrapper.
Eh..really nice packaging. I think they are available all year round, but the packaging could be different. This packaging looks like customize for the mid autumn festival.
I love the packing, very traditional. I got a packet of 4 standard size mooncakes with no fancy packaging from a nearby mini market for less than RM10, not going to pay so much for fancy design packaging. Hahaha..
Aiya…this mooncake brings back memories..I used to eat this when I was young.
It looks so “vintage”, I like the packing also.
I like the packaging idea too.
I wonder if we can get these in KL? They are lovely as presents and I am sure, kinder to the pockets too! 🙂
