Dogs Can Help To Reduce Stress

Ask any pet owner and he or she will tell you that living with a pet comes with many benefits.  Pets offer constant companionship, love and affection. It isalso no surprise that 98% of pet owners consider their pet to be a member of the family.

People are generally happier in the presence of animals and this makes them healthier too. In a survey of pet owners, 74% of pet owners reported mental health improvements from pet ownership, and 75% of pet owners reported a friend’s or family member’s mental health has improved from pet ownership.

There are many ways that having pets actually help decrease the stress we feel in our daily lives.  Just being around an animal decreases your blood pressure, which is one physical measure of stress. Pets promote relaxation and may help alleviate these stress symptoms.

There is  something incredibly comforting about coming home after a long day at work and being greeted with wet, slobbery kisses. For many people, interacting with a pet is the ultimate antidote to a stressful day.
