Dinner At The Museum Restaurant, Ipoh

I haven’t been back to Ipoh since September when interstate travel was allowed.  CMCO was again implemented in October and no interstate travel was allowed until the latest announcement last week that Malaysians can cross borders again.  So, last Friday I took a trip back to Ipoh with my dad and my brother.   It was a foodie trip for my dad as he misses the food so much.  We were back for 4 days and 3 nights and every day, I followed my dad to his favourite eateries in Ipoh.  On the 2nd night, we had dinner at The Museum Restaurant that serves homecooked style Chinese cuisine in a Western-style Bar.

The Museum is famous for its Towing Barbecue Pork or Towing Char Siew which has a lot of fat.  The name Towing Char Siew is derived from the Huanan pigs that are so fat that they tow their potbellies as they walk.  Besides the porky dish, The Museum is also famous for their seafood like fish and lala (clams).  They are super fresh!

The signature Towing Char Siew

Fried egg with big prawns. Such a simple and delightful dish.

The super delicious clam soup

Fried fish with bittergourd and taucheong.  This is the first time I have eaten fish cooked with bittergourd. Not a fan of bittergourd but this dish is super yummy!

Steam brinjals that are grown in their garden.  Can’t get any fresher than that.

If you are in Ipoh, do check out The Museum.  It is better to call them for reservations because this restaurant is often packed.
