Where To Find Ipoh Sar Kok Liew In Kuala Lumpur

Sar Kok Liew, also known as fried yam bean fritters are a specialty from Ipoh. They are usually found in noodle stalls in Ipoh. The sar kok liew are slightly crunchy on the outside and soft and goey on the inside. One of the most delicious yong liew that every noodles stall should have.

The filling consists of diced yambean mixed with fish paste. The filling is placed on a piece of beancurd sheet or fu pei and then rolled to form into a thick roll and are deep-fried to golden brown hue.

I always make sure that I will buy loads of them when I go back to Ipoh. I have posted earlier on where to find Sar Kok Liew in KL but I think this online store doesn’t sell them anymore. Well fret not because I have discovered this coffeeshop in KL that sells excellent sar kok liew – Kedai Koptiam 1957 Kopi. This coffeeshop sells the famous Gopeng Lai Fun with yong liew (stuffed yong tau foo). They also have curry noodles, prawn noodles and more. I was told that their coffee is super delicious too.

I have not tried the lai fun (noodles) here but my cousin bought some sar kok fu pei from 1957 Kopi to try. They are so delicious!

Fresh and crispy!
