New Bread In Town

I still remember my childhood of seeing bread wrapped in wax paper. The bakery that I passed by frequently as a child was just next to the Cold Storage opposite the Central Market in Ipoh. I can still remember the aroma of the freshly baked bread each time I passed by the bakery. It was the Sunshine Bread and I loved to touch the wax paper that the bread comes in. When I was a kid, I found the bread a bit tough and rough. Probably I my mom bought the wholemeal version. I’m not sure if those were available back then or maybe I had the corner piece. I would tear out the sides each time I have the bread because i didn’t like the texture.

Sadly, the bakery is no longer there. I think it closed in the ’80s. You can imagine my happiness when I saw the word “Sunshine” on some loaves at 7-11. After googling it, I realized that it is the same Sunshine Bread company. Hubs has been buying Sunshine bread since then and his favourite is the 100% Australian Oat Wholemeal Bread.

Just last week, we found out that Sunshine Bread has come out with a new flavour. It’s the Sunshine SHOKUPAN GOLD.  I quickly bought one for him and missy. This loaf of Brioche bread smells so good. It’s soft and has a buttery taste.

I find that the Sunshine Bread loaf is small in size. Hubs and missy finished half a loaf in less than a day. So the next day, I went to get another loaf from 7-11. So far there’s stock but when the word gets out, it may be hard to get your hands on the Brioche Butter Loaf.
