Happy Chap Goh Mei

I love celebrating the Chinese New Year.  I especially love the preparation which start a few weeks before the big day like listening to the Chinese New Year songs being played at the malls or on the radio, shopping for CNY decoration items, new clothes, cookies, getting ready the angpows and etc.  CNY is all about family, friends and of course yummy feast.  Sadly, today is the last day of the Chinese New Year celebration *sobs*

According to the lunar calendar, the actual Chinese New Year falls on Saturday, 4th February, 2012 (Lap Chun).  We took the opportunity to visit the Thean Hou Gong Temple on that day.  The temple was packed with devotees and I was surprised to see so many stalls lined up by the roadside. There were stalls selling food, wind chimes, toys, heated gloves and even a stall offering mole removing service 😛

The temple was brightly lit up.  My camera didn’t do justice to the beautiful temple.

The chick decided to climb onto the rooster statue to take a pic since she’s born in the Year of the Rooster.  Just like her daddy and mommy 😉

Raise the Red Lanterns.  Beautiful!

Then yesterday, we went to the TTDI Market to watch the spectacular Lion Dance.

The lion dance troupe made a dragon using a pineapple, limes, mandarin oranges, bananas and lettuce.  Fantastic eh?

Happy Chinese Valentine’s Day to you and your family.

For years, we have been wanting to visit the Thean Hou Temple during CNY but the traffic jam leading up the temple has always been terrible, so we never made it 🙁
Oooh, 3 chicks in your family? 🙂

My family and I spent Chap Goh Mei at Jalan Sultan – there were thousands and thousands of Malaysians there that night – we danced and sang the night away on the streets. At 12 p.m. the organisers let off firecrackers as the chariot of Lord Subramaniam past by Jalan Sultan accompanied by thousands of devotess – 2 festivals on the same night – it was truly 1Malaysia.

mommy to chumsy, no need worry too much eh…in fact tv not recommended for under 2 years old, but like you, my daughter exposed to tv very young. Not all kids will have autism, don’t worry. You can go for more educational tv like High 5, Barney, or Astro XTY ch 325. Carol previously love Babytv but I find that not so helpful coz too much cartoon, so sometimes I switch her to XTY, where they have real kids dancing, playing, learn words etc. Don’t worry too much ok.

    p/s : I love the pineapple dragon! So creative!…..
