The Nine Emperor Gods Festival began on the 1st day of the 9th month of the Lunar calendar which fell on Friday, 20th October 2017.
We were back to Ipoh for this festival a few days ago. We always try to be back every year to pay our respects to the Nine Emperor Gods at the Tow Boo Kong Temple in Pasir Putih. We arrived at the temple before noon to avoid the crowd but it was still rather packed and the smoke from the jossticks and incense were quite overwhelming. Cannot imagine during the peak period. Traffic was pretty jam too around the temple and its surrounding. So if you want to go to the Tow Boo Keong temple, do plan ahead.
Right outside the main gate of the temple, you would see a row of stalls selling tortoise-shaped buns for prayers. My family loves eating them so we usually buy a lot for prayer and for consumption.

Lotus paste buns. These are another traditional steamed buns for prayer. They are soft, fluffy and delicious.

The Nine Emperor Gods Festival is celebrated for 9 days and will end on the 28th October 2017. I heard that there will be a procession along the streets in Ipoh on the weekend. I wish we could watch it as the last time I watched the procession was almost 30 years ago. I think missy would be fascinated. Do find out from the temple if you are interested in watching the grand procession.
