Scallops Are Expensive

While chatting with Jan today, she told me that she’ll be cooking some congee later. During our conversation, we talked about scallops and how expensive they are now. My mum bought some last week from the market. There were small scallops and the packet below cost RM10.00. Absurd eh?

I only use them whenever I cook fish porridge for Ashley. The above would probably be enough for 3 pots of porridge. I saw some really big ones at the medicine shops and they are cost RM30 for a handful (about 10 pieces or less). Can’t be buying those and eating them every day unless I own a villa or an oceanfront property, right? So, what do you think, Jan? Are the scallops more expensive here than Canada?

my MIL bought from macau. but she buys those high quality. not sure how much but she gave me about 1pound. I don’t use a lot of it. I only add 1 to a pot of soup. I used dried slices of fake abalone (pau yue pheen) to cook porridge for my son. I use a small pieces for each pot of porridge.
