A few days ago, Ashley woke up from her nap and was pretty cranky. Suddenly, she looked at our wedding photo and asked me a question angrily.
“Mommy, why I’m not in the photo?” I was stumped and didn’t know how to answer her. After thinking for a while, I said, “Well, you were not there yet when daddy & mommy took the photo”. She replied, “Oh, I’m (was) at home?” I quickly said, “Yes, yes, you were at home” Phew! Glad she found an answer….heheheheh. Then she continued…”Ok, next time, I want to go too and I want to wear my tutu (she was referring to my wedding gown)” *faint*
If she were to ask me about Outer Banks vacations, I may have an answer but question like this? I am lost for words. Just how do you answer them?
I’d just tell her the truth. That she was not born yet. Maybe I’ve always been that way with Ethan, talking facts instead of giving an alternate answer. 😀
I always talk facts to her too but does a child know the meaning of born? that’s why i didn’t say the the word ‘born’…but she knows she comes from my tummy. i won’t know how to answer her if she asks me where she was before she is in my tummy

They always ask us questions that we don’t know how to answer. If my girl doesnt get an answer from us, she will start crying.

When I encountered the same scenario, I too told Avery that she wasn’t born yet. She just stared at me blankly….
April and May asked me before also, before I found an answer to them, April said that “Mei Mei and me were in you tummy right?” Since I couldn’t think of any answer at that moment, so I just said yes lo!
i just reply as a matter of fact way that “God hasn’t create you yet.”

Hahaha! Angry and cranky still got the mood to ask questions. She’s so adorable! Ya, I always tell Chloe the facts too. So far she’s never asked where she was before she was born. If yes, I think I’ll tell her that she’s not been created yet etc.
I told HQ that he was not born yet. And he asked me back “I still inside your stomach ah?”, then “How come your stomach so small?” *pening*
I asked jayden when he was looking at our wedding card (yeah i stil have it in my car!!!) and he said Jayden not around. Jayden at home. muahaha guess he sendiri figure out the answer.
I think I would have a tough time explaining to Ashley’s younger siblings (if any!) why their jie jie is in the wedding pictures and not them 😛
But Ashley’s been asking me, why she’s no longer a baby like the pics I showed her, she kept knocking on my tummy sayin babyyyy babbyy you (in) there? Pengsan
Aiyo..quite headache also huh..hehe. Gwen would just say “Mama..that’s you” or “That’s papa”…haha..when she saw our wedding photo. I guess she’s just not bothered. LOL.

I would just tell them they weren’t born yet. I think most kids are smarter than we think these days esp if they go to kindy early, lots of ‘bad’ stuff to learn from there LOL.

My boy has yet to ask me this question. Now, he’s just pointing out and says, “nah, mummy and daddy in the photo”. I guess pretty soon I’ll get the headache for answering question like Ashley posted!!

lucky my boys have not ask me that question yet. If no, i bet they will start asking why why why till they get a satisfy answers. This is them now, in their “why why” stage.

When both my children were young I explained to them about how life is created. Maybe my children are just more intelligent but they grasped it pretty quickly. I told them how plants, animals and people, even their toys all have to be created. And that before they were here we (the parents) were also children, as were the grandparents.
I’m pretty sure they are just smart. They’re now 14 and 18 respectively and both at top of their class. One set up his own business and made more money in one summer than we did all year (despite us both being doctors!).
