to be a mom that is and I am talking about me. I simply do not have the patience at all. I get angry when Ashley takes forever to eat her meals. I get upset because I have to do everything. I have to remember her meals, prepare them, get up as soon as the alarm clock rings, get her ready for school and etc. My job is 24/7, 365 days a year. No off days. No sick leave. Yet, I cannot complain. Cannot be stressed. Cannot be tired. Sometimes I am told that what I am doing is wrong. I should do this instead of that. I ought to do this and not that. Why is it so hard to be a mom? It is certainly not easy to find a job which we love to do eh?

Yes, why is motherhood such a challenge? Hmmm… if wonder if we knew how challenging it is going to be, would we have signed up for it…….deep breaths…1..2…3..4..5..6..aarrgh!
this is a the only job comes with no salary, hence no increment, no bonus, no retirement age, no pencen money, no EPF, no annual leave, no sick leave. an ultimate everlasting job! it’s a tough job and yet mothers are enjoying their every single day attending to this priceless job 🙂
*hugs*… you are not alone.. god made us woman and a mom, coz he believes we can handle it better than our husbands
Barb, after reading your post. I feel the same unfit as you. I spanked, slapped, caned and scolded my little May “kau kau” last night. I lost my temper and patience, because she is getting thin and eatting less and less each meal. I hate seeing her sour face during meal time. I am stressed up too. My husband and I also get very upset and acted like we were the child abuser. Today, we brought her to see doctor due to her prolong coughing. The PD said she has bronchitis and needs to be on antibiotic and nebuliser. PD also said this has caused her to lose weight and lose appetite. Now only, I hold back my emotion and try to give May some time to recover. Sigh! Motherhood is never easy.
barb.. i guess most of the moms wil feel this way. so u are not alone.
motherhood is indeed challenging, every mum faces their own set of challenges, dont worry dear, u are doing great already!!!!!
Yes, sometimes it is just so tough. I nearly had a mental breakdown last weekend. Based on my MIL’s comments, I’m pretty sure that she thinks my girl is suffering cos I’m such a lousy mum.
I think motherhood is a journey with ups and downs. You’re going through a “down” now, but I’m sure it will be “up” soon. Take care! *hugz*
Mothering job is that tuff, but is rewarding…our family and kid always comes first on top of anything…I’m very soon will be like you…don’t know will I be cry to cope with it..
Yeah, motherhood is tough. We have to be totally responsible with regards to our child. I hate it when ppl, esp family members pass unkind remarks and doubt my ability to care for my child.
I’m having one of those days today, bad neck pain, I’m a week late not knowing if it’s false alarm again or not, Ashley with a bad ulcer and she couldn’t stop crying about it. Not eating but wants cupcakes and vitagen. I feel like packing my bags and migrate to Timbuktu.
But when she comes and sayang me instead, I just went aihh what to do this is the life of a mother. Like the rest said there are ups and downs. Cheer up ya Barb, it’s a brand new day tomorrow. Lots of hugs and kisses
Being a mum is really tough. Relax..breath in..breath out. That’s why I’m still not ready for 2nd one. *scared*
poor dearie..i think u r vy tired and stressed up…relax a little.
i felt this way too sometimes..esp when hubby cannot understand me…
Hi, dropping by from Yvonne’s blog! lol! It’s very interesting on how you described motherhood, I would like to add on… we are “unpaid” too! ^-^
I’m stressed too.. being a SAHM! However I’m trying to enjoy it and polish my parenting skill day after day, all the best to you too! Cheers!
Hi Barb,
You are one of the best mom’s I know around. This year you both had major adjustments~Ashley starting school earlier, and you going back to work. It takes time to adjust to a new routine, and also have time for yourself. Just remember that you are the mom, and you know what is best for your daughter. Just tune out the others! Take care!
motherhood is simply a great challenge. i take fitline to destress myself.
It’s alrite… My son Aidan is same age as your Ashley. Me also having the same stress and same lifestyle as you. Dont worry. Our child does knw our hardwork & it will be appreciated by them. The day will come. They are like this because they want attention. They are the only child at home.
It might seem very tedious doing all the work now (me too) but when the kids are all grown up, we will miss doing all these! Life is funny! LOL!
Thanks for all your kind words everyone. Appreciate it 🙂
i so hear you and you’re definitely not alone. i hate it too trying to be something i’m not good at naturally. i’ve got little patience and it gets worst when i’m stressed. my biggest fear is totally losing it with the cane in my hand. so far it has yet to happen but with each passing day, i also cannot guarantee. lol! this is why we moms need our chill-out days and our hubbies better support us! 😉 ….hope you didn’t burn your pockets by shopping more to destress. hehe.
You’re not alone Barb. Sometimes I feel I’m unfit to be a mum too. And sometimes I feel I am a child abuser when I physically and verbally hurt my kids out of anger for their mischief. Being a mum is NEVER easy!
You are definitely not alone, Barb. I feel like this the whole time. Not spending enough time with her, super impatient and raise my voice at the slightest of things… 🙁
yeah.. you are not alone having this feeling.. BUT we, mommies are GREAT !!
I do agreed with all the mommies commented. I feel the same too, work n work n work (taking care kids, cooking, washing, cleaning n etc for 24/7) without a good resting. All we piled up is stress, anger n restless. That is why when our kids naughty, we will release our anger on them, sometimes also pity the kids. If our hub is understanding n helpful, I think we don’t hv this problem.
So far I only met a MR. NICE HUBBY (an Accountant) where he comes back from work 2 help to take care the 3 kids n do hsehold. He even took a mth leave to do confinement for his wife, bathing 1 newborn n 2 preschoolers, cooking, washing n etc. I think this type of person is no way can find in this world anymore, Hahaha..:) He’s my hub BIL, (his lil sis hub).
Barb, you’re not alone, i think all mummies agree with you and so do i. We should feel proud and great to be a mom, because no one can do this job better than us!!
*sigh* absolutely agree with you!! even though i am not a mum, but i can imagine the pain and frustrations…
