Where To Find Ipoh Sar Kot Liew In KL

*UPDATED*

Please visit the post HERE for the new shop that sells Sar Kok Fu Pei in Kuala Lumpur because I think RJ Snacks mentioned below does not sell the sar kok fu pei anymore.

Sar Kok Liew which is also known as yambean (jicama) fritters  is usually found in noodle stalls in Perak. They are part of the yong liew or Yong Tau Foo variety.  Usually, they are eaten with a plate of dry noodles or soup noodles.  Most people from Ipoh would regard the sar kok liew as one of the most delicious and simple item that every fish ball noodle stall should have.  The most famous one in Ipoh is of course, the Big Tree Foot stall located in Taman Pasir Putih.

So what is sar kok liew?  It is basically fried yambean (jicama / sengkuang) that are diced or cut into smaller pieces, mixed with fish paste to create the filing.  They are then placed on a piece of beancurd sheet and rolled to form a roll.

Whenever we go back to Ipoh, we will go around town to search for them.  It is hard to find sar kok liew in KL though.  To my surprise, I found a shop in Subang Jaya that sells really delicious sar kok liew.  The shop is called RJ Snacks.   Due to the Movement Control Order, they are offering delivery service.

I ordered 2 dozen of these sar kok liew.  They are so delicious.  My tummy is growling as I type this post.  Luckily I still have 1 dozen in my freezer.

Besides sar kok liew, RJ Snacks also has other delicious snacks like cheong fun, pumpkin cake, yong tau foo platter, nasi lemak,  Ipoh Chee cheong fun with mushroom sauce and more.
