Mille-Feuille Nabe (A Thousand Leaves Hot Pot)

I decided to try my hands at cooking this fancy named dish – Mille-Feuille Nabe (A Thousand Leaves Hot Pot) after seeing my friend, Shireen’s daughter, S cooked it.  I was practically drooling while looking at my phone when I saw Shireen posting about this delicious pot of soup.

I love all things soupy like steamboats and it is such a delight to eat especially on a rainy day.   As it was a last-minute decision to cook the Mille-Feuille Nabe, I didn’t have many ingredients available  I only have the cabbage and pork slices meant for steamboat.  The other ingredients are daishi stock, noodles, mushrooms and spring onion.  As I didn’t have daishi, I used a packet of the instant soybean paste which I got from a Korean mart, as a soup base.

First step is to layer the cabbage leaves with pork slices

Then cut them into half and arrange them into the pot.  Then mix 2 cups of water with the soybean paste and pour into the pot and cook in low heat for about 20 mins.

Here is my flavorful mille feuille nabe.

Give this dish a try if you love soup with vegetables.
