A Much-Needed Trip Out Of Town With Friends

Last Friday, my friends and I went up to the hill for a one day trip. The last time we planned an outing together was in 2019, before Covid came and changed everyone’s lives. We have been planning a trip out of town for the longest time but it didn’t materialize because it’s not easy to accommodate our busy schedule. This trip to Genting Highlands was planned like 2 months ago and luckily all of us made it!

We all met in E’s house in the morning after beating some pretty heavy morning ‘going-to-work’ traffic. We left her house at about 9am with PL behind the wheel and reached Genting Premium Outlet at about 10. I sat at the back with 2 other ladies and felt a bit wuzzy during the drive up. Usually I sat in front when hubs drove and I was fine. Luckily all was fine after I inhaled my trusted Peppermint Field inhaler. Sound very ‘ahjumma’ right?

We took the cable car up to Genting which is a better and safer option than driving up.  We stopped at the Chin Swee Temple and had fun taking group photos. It was windy and cooling with lots of mist at that time. Next, we adjourned to Genting for early lunch at Beauty In A Pot.

It was really nice having hotpot in the cool weather. Lunch was a sumptuous affair and we ordered a Pork Bone Collagen soup and Tomato soup. We chatted, laughed and filled our tummy at Beauty In A Pot. PL surprised everyone by treating us to this delicious lunch. We almost had to roll ourselves out of the restaurant because we were so full!

Next, we all went into the casino (a first time for some of us) and tried out hands on 2 games. 4 of us lost and 1 won. It was a good experience to go in and have a look but I don’t like the vibe in there. It felt dark although there were lights everywhere and I could smell cigarette smoke because smokers are allowed to smoke in the casino at a corner.

We had to walk through the Genting mall to get into the casino and I also didn’t like the atmosphere there. It was crowded, the whole place looked dark and there was an uneasy feeling. So glad we got out and took the cable car back to GPO for some shopping. We had about an hour to look around and we all split up to shop. I got a top for Ashley and a pair of slippers for myself at Cotton On.

All of us planned to go home after dinner so we headed down to Genting Permai Avenue and had an early snack/dinner at Brew House. We sat outside to enjoy the breeze. Here is a photo taken of the 5 of us. It was hilarious trying out different poses we saw on TikTok. Luckily the staff at The Brew House were very accommodating and patient with us ahjummas.

We all arrived home at around 9pm that day and were knackered from this fun-filled one day trip that gave us a chance to connect and heal our souls.
