For several times a week, I would wear my walking slippers and head out for a 5-kilometre walk in the morning. Walking is not just about staying active, it has become an important part of self love and caring for mental health. Feeling the morning air on my skin and the time alone with my thoughts all work together to clear my mind and bring me calm.
One morning, while the sky was still dark and I heard a light drizzle. I have planned to go for a walk that day but I did hesitate if I should skip. However, something deeper urged me on so I just grabbed my umbrella and stepped out.
There’s something different about walking in the rain. Everything feels quieter and I love the soothing sound of the droplets on the umbrella. I’m glad I took the walk that morning. Not just for fitness, but for peace of mind. For staying discipline by showing up for myself, no matter rain or shine.
