FlowRider at One Utama

On Sunday we were at One Utama to celebrate my niece’s birthday.  It was held at Flow Rider, an indoor surf center for those who love to try surfing.  It features 2 ‘pools’ made from composite vinyl surface.    Water is pumped from propellors located in the pool that inject water, creating a wave.  The simulated wave would enable riders to surf up and down the pool, while lying on the board or standing on it.  This new hybrid boardsport is designed and engineered in the United States and offers endless thrills and spills of surfing, wakeboarding and flowboarding.

Missy said she enjoys it very much.  She only got to lie on the board and also knelt on it.  She wants to try standing on the board next.   She did say that her thighs hurt from the gushing of the water pressure.

All the kids had a great time.  The party started at 10am until 11am.  This is a good timing as it is not very warm.  Luckily the sky held up and there was no rain that morning.  The FlowRider is not only for pro athletes as anyone can just join in the fun. A basic session is RM45/hour for weekday and RM55/hour for weekend.   There is also a package available and you can also go for AirRider.

This exhilarating sport is pretty safe as the ‘pool’ is well padded with soft cushions and there are professional instructors are there to guide.  Complimentary lockers and shower stalls are available for customers to use. Tickets can be booked and paid online at www.flowrider1utama.com.my or buy them at the counter.
