Health Supplements For Children

When Ashley turned one year old, I gave her E.Excel Millenium Juice which contains a blend of cactus, royal jelly and wild honey.   As stated in E.excel’s website, cactus is rich in phytochemicals and offer many health benefits such as strengthening the immune system.   According to the agents, eventhough the Millenium Juice is expensive, it is better than spending money on medical fees as people are less likely to fall sick 😛 (I think this is their motto) The price of the Millenium Juice increases every year and I finally stop buying for Ashley this year.  This is because I am not sure if it does help to strengthen her immune system or not because she still gets the occasional cold, cough and fever, AND we are giving her paed a lot of $$  >(

Recently, I have opted for a less expensive supplement for Ashley.  I am giving her E.Excel Nutrifresh which is a fruit based beverage. Its ingredients include soy and an assortment of natural plant foods.    It comes in five different flavors – original, mixed fruit, chocolate, peach and strawberry.   It cost rm97 for a box of 30 sachets.  I heard that some parents replace their children’s milk with Nutrifresh.  I am giving Ashley a sachet a day and I hope that Nutrifresh will help to boost her immune system.  Besides taking this, she also takes Vitamin C and Multi-vits.

May I know what kind of health supplements do you give your children?

I have recently started taking Super Lutein to boost my immune system as well as missy’s immune system.   We have stopped giving her E.Excel products.  You may read about it here.

My sinus is gone because of one amazing product. Click here to find out more and what product I am taking now.

  2. claire says:

my girl doesnt take much…only patt chun once amonth.. .. sometimes multi vit and then after few days, she stops unless i put siap siap on her table..

  3. I let my girl take fish oil with cherry flavour (seven sea brand) and vit c everyday. I guess her immune system is ok, she only falls sick once every 3 to 4 months. Two days ago, she just had her fever and recovered the following day.

Barb, I only gave Scott Emulsion original flavour and Natural Farm non sugar Vit C for my girls. When they are sick, I will stop feeding Scott Emulsion, as it is slightly heaty. But I will never stop feeding Vit C. I tried feeding them E.Excel Noco and Act, but to be frank with you, i didn’t see any significant result. So, I stopped giving them direct sales product. Both Vit C and Scott Emulsion, I got them from pharmacy only.
Other than above, I make them a cup of honey every day, boil them Chrysanthemum drink, barley or lou han guo on weekend.
I also believe the children should eat balance diet, preferably home cooked food, once in a while eat out only would help their immunity.

  5. The box looks very familiar…..I think my wife bought this before!

  6. rachel says:

I’m giving Advance Formula from Transfers Factor4life. I can see difference in PHilip n he seldom fall sick. But its expensive. rm200 per bottle. Can use 1.5months to 2 months.

  7. Mummy Gwen says:

I’m giving Gwen Abbott’s multi-vits. Recently just started giving her Scotts Emulsion Original flavour.

  8. Mummy Gwen says:

And I give her strictly Pediasure milk 3 times a day. I think she put on a bit weight.

  9. Ann says:

Barb…I used to give my son Millenium and Nutrifresh as well. But I also don’t think it really works coz he still fall ill.

But since I gave him Colostrum and Cod liver Oil, I find it works better. Cod Liver Oil I give the capsule kind. He can take the oil direct and even swallow sometimes. Seems to work better. Colostrum also got the chewable kind. But I didn’t know about it so gave him the NuSkin one which is expensive too.

  10. For Maine, she takes multi vit and Vit C and sometimes, Scott’s. I have seen this E.Excel Nutrifresh before but wasn’t sure if it really worked.

  11. Adrine says:

I haven’t tried health supplements b4. So far, fresh fruits, veggies & fish seems to work fine.

  12. I think Scott Emulsion is quite good cos when Kit boy was taking this Scott Emulsion, we actually did not visit the Paed at all except for injection for a period of 6-7 months but the minute he stopped (he just refused to take in), the ‘3 sisters’ started their visit again and almost once a month we’ll have to visit the Dr. Despite now I am giving him the Kodels Kids Vit C together with the Appenton Multi Vit, I still having a bottle of this Scott Emulsion, hopefully one day I can convince him to continue with this Scott Emulsion.

  18. HN says:

Ahh, the Millenium is super expensive.. I sued to take those two items too, but stop once I moved here. Really couldn’t tell whether it works for me or not. For my kids, the paed here discourage us to give supplements for kids, except Vit D (coz we have less sun here).

  19. lovelymummy says:

I took Millenium and nutrifresh before for myself. super expensive and price increase every year. as for my kid, I give him pediasure milk, herbalife (contain 42 mineral&vitamins)-just started, pre&probiotics, daily fresh fruit& vege juice-just started also.

  20. 17 months old boy is on fresh milk, veges, fruits, fish and liquid multivit (Source of Life Animal Parade).

  21. Joshua's mummy says:

Yalor, I also find that millennium cactus juice doesn’t seem to help boost his immune system! Although I guess it’s too early to comment since he is still on the 1st packet. As written in my blog, I still think the black elderberry syrup is the best

  22. Leeyen says:

Ppl said millenium is good for the wound recovery after Ceasarean, I got no idea whether it’s true or not! I didn’t feel anything lah! The nutrifresh tastes yummy, but I stop buying already, cause I believe fresh n home cooked fruits n veges are the best! I m surprisingly hardworking to blend smoothies for myself n the baby nowadays! Cause I don’t want to hv another picky eater like my no.1 at home!

  23. Shirley Loo says:

ahhh..excel are quite gud i heard…hub said wanna get sum multi vits for kyle..but not yet though…mean time im giving him multi vit drop, chewable multi-vit and colostrum powder or chewable tablets…occasionally will giv him cod oil if he asked for 😉 of coz soup is also very important, i make sure he’s given soup everyday! 😉

  24. jacss says:

we gave our boys cactus juice when they were at the peak of falling sick around 3-4 yrs old (to d extend of having fits). so die-die exp’ve also we kept the routine for abt 1year+ & we noticed their immune syst did improved. once they r stronger we stopped coz too exp’ve jor…
currently my boys take some candy-like vitamins fr GNC !!
i personally like d taste of nutri-fresh but didn’t really see its’ benefits on myself lar…anyway, i was not discipline in consuming it. u try n see how ya

  25. Mamapumpkin says:

This is the 2nd time I’m hearing of Nutrifresh. What is it? Cod liver oil worked wonders for me as a student in London. I used to get sick every winter but when I took my CLO regularly, I didn’t get sick at all. Honestly, I believe in a well balanced diet with tons of fruit & vegetables (which is super hard for Msian Moms cuz we’re just not used to it plus look everywhere around you, especially at the hawker? Who eats vegetables? The amount is grossly underestimated!). T1 doesn’t take anything at all but I make sure she gets lots o vegetables & fruit. And fish! Of course, she also eats a lot of rubbish, but I make sure the f&v are pumped in regularly, even if its just juice. Gotta keep making it fun. She hardly ever gets ill. This year not once, usually once a year or not at all. Lots of water too. They need to poo out all the rubbish they eat cuz that’s what’ll lower their immunity, & f&v + water’ll make them poo all the toxins out daily. Sorry for being so long-winded!

  26. ChloeMummy says:

I’ve heard a lot about this E.Excel. Thinking about getting some supplements for myself. I don’t give Chloe any supplements at all. Her source of nutrients are purely from big portions of fresh fruits and veggies daily. So far her immune system is quite good. It’s been almost 1.5 years ago since she last had fever *touch wood* hehe.

  27. Etceteramommy says:

    Ryan’s daily intake:

Soup in every meal + multivits gummy + cod liver oil (both from Nordics Natural) + early this year I added Childlife colustru into the list. I must say the colustrum gave me the most evident result in strengthening his immune system.
