Chinese New Year Celebrations

Gong Xi Fa Cai everyone. Sorry for the long silence.  Been really busy preparing to usher in the Year of the Monkey and celebrating with my family, relatives and great friends. Am going to do a summary of what we have been up to.

Reunion dinner was held in my house this year.  Brother-in-law and his family, together with husband’s cousin and his family gathered at our house for a steamboat reunion dinner.  Besides steamboat, we had roast chicken and roast duck too.

On the First Day of the Chinese New Year, we travelled back to Ipoh for a huge gathering at my aunt’s house.  This is the norm every Chinese New Year.   The atmosphere was just awesome.  It’s great to be with all my aunts, uncles and cousins.  Day 1 was also the reunion dinner for my side of the family.  My dad usually organizes a dinner at a famous restaurant in Ipoh.  This year, we had dinner at Tuck Kee Restaurant.  During our trip to Ipoh, we stayed in Ibis Hotel and there was a lion dance at the hotel on Day 2.

Met up with 2 of my besties and one of them cooked for us.  How blessed.

Besides frying some meehoon, she also baked cheese tarts and pizza bread.  Simply delicious.

On Day 5, we had another round of steamboat dinner at my sister’s place together with my parents and all my siblings.  The above was the 4th Lou Sang for me.  Let’s all toss to Good Health, Happiness and Prosperity.

It was open house at my home on Day 6.  The in-laws and close friends came over for a bbq.  I made Smoked duck aglio olio and Japanese potato salad.  My friend baked some fluffy bread, made onigiri and another friend brought over the most sumptuous pork ribs.

Right after the bbq, we had a few rounds of card games. It was so fun and crazy for the adults.  The kids on the other hand were busy playing with fireworks.

This is the aftermath of the fire cracker we lit.

Chinese New Year is all about togetherness, love and good food.  We are so blessed to be surrounded by our loved ones and precious friends.  I hope you all had a wonderful celebration.

Chinese New Year is all about togetherness, laughing, talking, drinking, and eating. Barb, I put on weight, 2kg. I sad like hell now.

No worries Yan. You are slim and tall. 2kg is not a lot and won’t show at all. I am sure you are back to exercising daily so the 2kg will be gone soon 🙂
