When You Are On Low Carb And You Crave For Noodles

Once in a while I have this craving for hawker food like pan mee. There’s this famous pan mee stall in my neighbourhood that offers the best hand-torn pan mee. The flour based noodle dough is hand torn into bite-sized pieces and cooked in anchovy broth. This particular stall serves the best dry style (without soup) hand torn pan mee.

Alas, I can’t have these but because I want to curb my craving, I cook a packet of shirataki noodles that’s made from konjac yam. Then I would bring the noodles to the stall and asked the lady to mix everything up for me with her regular ingredients that include mushrooms, minced pork, vegetables, fried anchovies and the sauces.

Tadaa….here is my low carb dry pan mee with shirataki noodles. Did I mention that the sambal is to die for? The price for this plate of low carb / keto pan mee is RM10, the same price as what she charges normally although I didn’t take any of her handmade pan mee. I’m grateful that she gives in to my request of using shirataki noodles instead.
