Ching Ming Festival

During the recent Ching Ming festival (mostly known as Tomb Sweeping Day or Ancestors Day), we went back to Pomelosville to pay respects to my late father-in-law, sister-in-law, hub’s grandfather and also my grandmother.  I decided to make some cupcakes as offering 🙂

I followed a recipe from one of the food blogs but forgot which one.  I also got a choc steamed cupcake ready-mix from the baking store.

Made a batch of pink cupcakes but turned out to be more orange than pink.  The result was not what I expected.  The orange cupcakes weren’t smooth and looked more like ‘Fatt Koh’, distorted ones actually 🙁  Don’t think I’ll post the photo up.  I think I didn’t mix the ingredients up properly though I sifted the flour and etc.  They tasted ok to me…just looked funny.  Boo Hoo!

Thank God the chocolate ones turned out well.  Ashley loved them 🙂

So I had some distorted orange cupcakes and chocolate cupcakes for Ching Ming.  I wonder if our ancestors had a good laugh when they saw my cupcakes.

I laughed, reading through your entry here – reminding of my own experience on my 1st muffin. Distorted, haha. Funny shape, same-same. But it’s a good try and am sure your ancestors would be delighted to have some home baked cupcakes 🙂
