During the recent Ching Ming festival (mostly known as Tomb Sweeping Day or Ancestors Day), we went back to Pomelosville to pay respects to my late father-in-law, sister-in-law, hub’s grandfather and also my grandmother. I decided to make some cupcakes as offering 🙂
I followed a recipe from one of the food blogs but forgot which one. I also got a choc steamed cupcake ready-mix from the baking store.
Cupcake liners getting ready
Made a batch of pink cupcakes but turned out to be more orange than pink. The result was not what I expected. The orange cupcakes weren’t smooth and looked more like ‘Fatt Koh’, distorted ones actually 🙁 Don’t think I’ll post the photo up. I think I didn’t mix the ingredients up properly though I sifted the flour and etc. They tasted ok to me…just looked funny. Boo Hoo!
Thank God the chocolate ones turned out well. Ashley loved them 🙂
So I had some distorted orange cupcakes and chocolate cupcakes for Ching Ming. I wonder if our ancestors had a good laugh when they saw my cupcakes.
I am sure they appreciate it, it’s the thought that counts 🙂
hey, nice to see you doing some baking and cooking here. It’s good if you can make your ancestors laugh as long as you dont hear them laughing!!! hahahahaha!!
The choc ones look good. Wow..now you are into baking and cooking huh. 🙂
I laughed, reading through your entry here – reminding of my own experience on my 1st muffin. Distorted, haha. Funny shape, same-same. But it’s a good try and am sure your ancestors would be delighted to have some home baked cupcakes 🙂
Thumbs Up. I think they appreciate it very much. The steam cupcakes turn out nicely.
Barb, you chocolate cupcakes look fine to me. Keep it up. Together, we are having baking fever eh!
Baking heat spread until your place already, Barb 😉
The cupcakes look yummy~
Did you all burnt handphone to the ancestors? Later get midnight call commenting in the cupcakes hahaha…just joking
anyway, the cc looks ok to me.
Hmm…. cupcakes for Ching Ming is quite creative eh 🙂
Agree. It’s the thought that counts. And you just gave me an idea what I shall do in the next Ching Ming. Thanks!
Yeah, you’re doing just fine, Barb, so no worries!
You even home-baked cuppies for your late ancestors? So thoughtful of you. I’m sure they’ll be ‘eating’ them all up happily and wish for more next year 🙂 YOur choco cuppies look delish to me, one day I must try those steamed cakes of yours 😀
your chocolate cuppies looks very nice. Now your next step is to have a little adventure and fun with frosting 😀
