Branded Clothes For Less Again

If you have been following my blog, I’m sure you have read about my shopping adventure at the market in my neighbourhood. This post is probably my 7th post on all the good buys that I have been able to get my hands on.

Actually I have bought many, many, many clothes from the 2 stalls that sell branded clothes for less. I didn’t post all of them as it’s pretty time consuming. To recap, these 2 stalls sell brands like Monki, Zara, MNG, New Look, Esprit, Marks & Spencer, Primark and many more European brands. They also have some Japanese and Korean brands sometimes. All these clothes were brought in from the factories in Bangladesh that produce clothing for these fashion brands.

So when they have too many stock or past season clothes, the factories will sell them to buyers who want to buy them in bulk. So the 2 stalls that I buy from actually got the stock from the main supplier who imports these stock overrun from the Bangladesh factories. That’s why people like me can get our hands on these brands at an unbelievable price. Not too long ago, the shipment contained UK brands like Next and Monsoon. I was, of course, over the moon! I love Monsoon and I shopped this brand when I was in London many years ago. Their clothing is trendy and high quality.

Here is what I got that day.

It’s an embroidered denim dress. It was a bit too long for me so I got it altered. I checked online to try to find this dress on Monsoon website and voila, here it is.

Just look at the price! You won’t believe how much I paid for mine……… RM25! Here’s how the dress looks like on a model.

Found the same dress on Endource selling for 32 pounds.

I am so stoked with this purchase! I also got myself another Monsoon dress and a Next skirt. Will post about them later.

Gardenia Bread In Sabah & Sarawak

I went on a trip to Sibu with my friends recently. It’s the hometown of one of them and since she always posts about the food she has been eating there, all of us decided to visit this quaint lil town and enjoy some good food. Will post about my trip in another post.

Today I would like to talk about Gardenia bread. I have read about Sarawakians and Sabahans who would buy bags and boxes of Gardenia bread to bring home after visiting Peninsula Malaysia. At the airport, I saw long queues of people carrying Gardenia bread and waiting for their turn to pay at 7-11. I thought that it’s a norm because Gardenia bread is not available there.

Well, actually, the breads are available and I spotted them in Ta Kiong, one of the shops that sell imported goods in Sibu. Below is the shelf that’s filled with different types of Gardenia bread.

I took one loaf down to check the price. Gosh it’s RM9.70 for a loaf of Gardenia Bread. No wonder people buy so many of them back to Sabah and Sarawak! The reason for this high price is because of the cost to bring the bread over by flight. Baked goods can only stay fresh for 3 to 4 days, thus the flight cost and distribution cost make them expensive.

That’s pretty steep for a loaf of bread eh? Well actually, I do understand their struggle because a loaf of keto bread that I usually buy cost more – RM30 but I don’t eat them often. I would store the bread in the freezer and defrost them whenever I feel like having some bread. One loaf would last me for 2 months, at least.

Finding Solitude Daily

I love being alone. I love spending quite moments by myself, away from people. The older I get, the more I yearn for peace and quiet. I get up at 6 in the morning and go for my morning walk before I head to work. This is the time that I can be in my own thoughts while listening to my favourite songs on Spotify and walk for 1 hour.

I do treasure this one hour of silence. Being alone doesn’t mean that I am lonely. I enjoy doing things alone like go for a movie, have a good meal and exercising. Spending time by yourself is good for overall well-being. It can be rejuvenating especially when doing something that you enjoy.

Exercising helps to release endorphins that make one feel happier. I wish that I stay near a park so that I can walk around there amongst the trees for some peaceful solitude. My morning walk is usually around a few blocks of houses and cutting through the morning market. It would do 4 rounds which give me 6km.

These days, I don’t wear walking shoes anymore. I discovered this pair of rubber walking slippers that are often worn after recovery run. I was walking in a park a few months ago and noticed that several runners were wearing rubber slippers to run. I googled and found them in Shopee.

It gives very good support, in fact, much better support than my regular walking shoes. Who would have known that this simple pair of rubber slippers can offer so much. Cheap and effective!

Reunion With Besties

Yikes. I haven’t updated my blog for almost 3 weeks! Been really busy with work and I’ve no time to update my blog which I normally do at the office. I had a reunion with my besties in early October. We all went to Penang for a couple of days to catch up. We have known each other since we were 7 years old. They are friends who fill my soul. All we did was eat, chat, took many photos, shop and of course laugh. Reunited and it feels so good!

Here are some of the cool places that I stumbled upon while walking around Penang.
