The Birds & The Bees

I was reading the Women’s Weekly today and found a useful article on how to give a sensible answer to the tricky question from your kids – “Where Do Babies Come From”  😀  According to the counsellor, this is one of the possible answers –

Babies come from their mother’s womb.  They grow inside for nine months in a special place called the womb or uterus.  When the baby is strong enough, the doctor helps the baby to come out. “

“Typically, saying a baby comes out of a mummy’s tummy is sufficient to satisfy their first level of curiousity”

In case your little starts to ask you this question, you’ll have an answer for him/her 😀   I’ll be using this when Ashley ask me this question next time.  If she wants to know more details, I’ll tell her to go to her daddy…..hehehehehehehehe

  1. So far so good. She knows she comes from my tummy and she knows I endured a great deal of pain while carrying her but she hasn’t asked from where did I come out ? When the time comes, I’ll tell her the truth. At least it’s easier to answer than her asking how she got into my tummy ..hahahaha

I mother told me I was plucked from the tree stump! hahaha… Somehow, I knew that it wasn’t true at that time.

  3. Elaine says:

Just in case your girl ask how she get into your tummy, you can say because “daddy and mummy has so much love for each other, they have to keep the love in mummy’s tummy, you are the product of mummy’s and daddy’s love and that’s how you grew up in mummy’s tummy” 😀

thanks Elaine. this is a good one 😀

Good answer and it’s the truth too. That’s what I told my kids when they were little because quite obviously the older ones could see the younger one in my tummy.

  19. Ariel Rising says:

You could also buy or check out age-appropriate books from the library and leave them laying around for her to pick up and explore and ask questions. Also, when she gets a bit older the American Girl Body Book does an excellent job of addressing this. I started that one with my older daughter when she was about eight.

Thanks for the tips 🙂 Will try to find the American Girl Body Book over here 🙂

  20. hahaha… my girl knows baby comes from tummy, cause she was with me in the delivery room and she knows that it was very paindful because I screamed 🙂
