Coffee At The Park

On Saturdays, I try to have my walk at the park. I would drive to the park and then start walking for an hour. Usually I aim to walk between 7km to 8km. Then on the way home, I would drop by Family Mart nearby to get my morning cuppa.

One morning, while walking in the park, I passed the carpark area and saw a car with its boot opened. There was a banner displaying the different coffee available. I decided to head over to check it out. Voila, there’s someone selling coffee!

I talked to the enterprising duo who were selling coffee from their car boot. They actually just started running a cafe in the condo which is next to the park. But on weekends, they would sell coffee from their car boot. Pretty good idea.

I quickly ordered a cup as I was already thirsty and didn’t have water with me. I was happy that I got to enjoy a cup of latte while walking.

Nothing beats having a cuppa for some energy boost.

ICC Pudu Food Court

I have been hearing about the famous ICC Pudu food court from friends and social media, and finally I got the chance to visit this place with my sisters not too long ago. This popular hawker food court is frequented by the locals.

One thing that I was mentally prepared before stepping into this bustling food court was the stuffiness. It was really hot in there, especially when we were there on a scorching day. Be prepared if you plan on going there. Wear you thinnest t-shirt and shorts! While the heat is a bit overwhelming, you get to savor a wide array of local delicacies all under one roof. Here is what we had that day.

This is how it looks like in the ICC Hawker food court

This is the famous Lintang 138 coffee. It is the first and only claypot coffee in KL. It means the coffee is brewed in a claypot and then poured in the cup. I had a cup of hot coffee with milk and no sugar. This coffee is very aromatic.

I ordered this ginger wine soup with egg from the famous ginger wine noodles stall. As I don’t eat noodles, I just opt for the soup with eggs and pork. It was served piping hot and so nourishing. I was sweating buckets after soup but it’s worth it.

My sister said this is the famous ‘Nian Gao’ or Kuih Bakul stall. The line was very long that day but moved fast. Nian gao is a sticky snack that is made from glutinous rice flour. They are usually eaten during Chinese New Year. This Imbi Kuih Bakul stall has sticky rice cake that is sandwiched between sweet potato and yam. It is then coated with batter and deep fried to golden brown. I ate one that day because I couldn’t resist them.

My sister also bought some kuihs from another stall. The “pak tong gou” and ma lai gou”” (steamed rice cake) are very good too.

If you are planning to go ICC Pudu hawker center, be prepared to wait for a table as this place is packed!

No Fuss and Affordable Omurice Roadside Stall

After seeing some social media posts on the affordable Japanese food by the roadside, we decided to look for it. We found this humble-looking stall called Ichiren No Tamashi right outside the Alison Kopitiam in Sri Petaling. Check out this quaint lil shop right under a tree.

What’s so special about this stall is that their Omurice only cost RM10 a plate. The portion is generous too.

Their signature dish is the Diced Chicken Omurice. However we didn’t order it. We got their Chicken Cutlet Omurice, which was sold at an equally affordable price of RM12. It comes with rice, fluffy omelet, cabbage and a piece of fried chicken cutlet.

This plate below is my low-carb version where it doesn’t have rice.

The chicken is crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. We enjoyed having this affordable and delicious Omurice. Having our meals out in the open is a nice change too.

Rm10 Korean Food TK Korea In Ampang By Ajumma

Not too long ago, KL Foodie featured a Korean lady selling her yummilicious food in a coffeeshop in Ampang. The stall is known as TK Korea and is in Restoran Chuan Hupp. This ajumma sells japjae, kimchi pancake, kimchi soup with rice, kimchi stew, kimbap, ramen, jajang ramen, Andong jimdak ( a rice bento) and kimchi, all for RM10 each.

My friend, Elaine went to her stall recently for lunch. She said the food is pretty good and value for money. She knows how much I love my kimchi because I cook kimchi jiggae often, so she offered to buy kimchi for me. A box of 500gram kimchi is only RM10. She delivered them to my house the next day. How lucky I am.
