Monday Blues

This is how I feel today. Work is overwhelming at the office and I also have a lot of online assignments to do. Not complaining though.  There is a lot to do at home as well. Laundry, cleaning, cooking, and etc. Wish that the weekend is more than 2 days.

Missy is having cabin fever and wants to go out as she has been staying home since June or maybe before that. I can’t remember anymore as we have been in so many lockdowns.  We haven’t been to the shopping malls or eat out for a long time.  So yesterday, we brought her out for a car ride to the next neighbourhood. We spotted a food truck and ordered a delicious and huge chicken burger from Zikgu for her.  She feels better after that and she already made plans where she would like to go once her 14-day post-vaccination is over.

My Teen Is Fully Vaccinated

Yesterday was Ashley’s 2nd dose and it was done at PPV MSU Dewan Canselor in Shah Alam. She took the first Covid vaccination at the Civic Center in MBPJ but it has since closed.

It was not difficult to get to PPV MSU Dewan Canselor but there are actually 2 Dewan Canselor in Shah Alam.  If you key in the location on Waze, it will also show Dewan Agung Tuanku Canselor which is in Seksyen 1, Shah Alam. This is the wrong location.

Anyway, I am glad that Ashley is fully vaccinated now. 14 days to go before she can venture out and she can’t wait!  As for me, I can’t wait to go back to Ipoh with her!

Stelvio Pass Bukit Antarabangsa

My friend, Elaine discovered this lovely place in her neighbourhood.  It is called Stelvio Pass, named after the famous mountain pass in northern Italy.  It is the highest mountain pass in Eastern Alps.  The Stelvio Pass in Italy is being used as a sports arena for cyclists and motorcyclists.

The Stelvio Pass we went to is located in Bukit Antarabangsa and it is nothing short of spectacular.  Stelvio Pass Bukit Antarabangsa is a great place for running and cycling.  The view is simply amazing.  We reached there at around 6.30pm and managed to catch the sunset.

All the way to end of the ramp is a small lake.

Love the sun rays and the KL view from here.

The TikTok Tortilla Wrap Sandwich Hack

If you have been reading my blog, you would know that I am a fan of TikTok.  I spend about 30 minutes each day on my TikTok account to watch dance videos, fashion tips, massage tips and also get some ideas on cooking.  TikTok is very fun and a great way to de-stress.  I have learned some cooking / baking ideas like Baked Bread Roll and Easy Chicken Pot Pie from this fun app.

Another idea that I got from TikTok is this Tortilla Wrap hack food trend that went viral.  This wrap sandwich is super easy to put together. I did not have any keto tortillas so I use the Keto Pizza crust that I bought from Carbless as the Keto wrap.  It is the 4 quarter fold tortilla wrap.

  • Cut a slit in the middle of the tortilla
  • Layer the toppings on the wrap. You can crazy with whatever toppings you like, whether sweet or savory.
  • Then simply fold each quarter triangle onto themselves until you have a layered wrap.

I put bacon, egg, lettuce and cucumbers on mine.

Fold away.

Here is my Quarter Fold Keto Tortilla Wrap.  You can put the whole thing in the toaster or grill it in the pan to make it toasty.  Easy and delicious meal!

The Way He Sleeps

This morning I woke up at around 6.30am and what a bummer because it is a Saturday.  I should have rolled on the bed and perhaps I may go back to sleep again.  However, I decided to come downstairs and did the laundry.  Then I realized that it was starting to drizzle.  Drats! I should have just stayed in bed on this gloomy and wet morning.  I went outside and saw this.

This fella was still enjoying his snooze and the way he sleeps is really cute. His legs were resting on the shoe cupboard.  Sometimes he would lay near the door and have his legs resting the door. Perhaps he needs a bolster *chuckle*.

Blessed Food From Friends

Last Sunday one of my besties dropped by to pass me 2 bottles of keto spread.  She just called me like 5 minutes before arriving and I didn’t even have time to change.  We haven’t met each other for almost 2 years already.  She just did a quick drop off and before we can chat more, it started to rain.  Bummer.  She gave me a Keto Almond Spread and a Keto Peanut Spread which she ordered from her nephew.

The spreads are insanely delicious. They are creamy and rich.  Both the spreads have no sugar and are made using 100% peanut/almond, olive oil and salt. Luckily I still have some keto cranberry bread from Carbless in my freezer.  I quickly toasted them and plonked a spoonful of spread onto the bread.  They are so so good.  I just ordered more keto bread to go with the Keto Peanut and Keto Almond spread.

On Tuesday evening, there was another delivery for me. Our friend who is now a K-drama fan (after being influenced by me) came over with 2 tubs of Kimchi. He actually came over about a week to see hubs and then we chatted about what else but K-drama *chuckle*.  He told me that he has been cooking Korean food and buying ingredients from the Korean grocer in Ampang.  He said their kimchi is really good and offered to buy them for me when he goes there again. The kimchi smelled so good when I brought them into the house. I can cook kimchi fried rice for missy and make Kimchi Jiggae for myself. Yums! The one on the left is not so spicy and the one on the right is the spicier version.

I am truly blessed.

The Dress Style That Everyone Should Own

After a year and a half of staying at home wearing cozy pieces like leggings, sweatpants and shorts, it is time to put away these slouchy, loose and relaxed clothing away. As the lockdown eases and we are slowly easing back into normal life, there will be plenty of dinner parties and get-togethers with friends and families.

With the cooler weather coming your way and also the holiday season around the corner, this is a good time to review your wardrobe and update it with some trendy dresses. If you love dresses and are looking to update your collection, there is one essential dress that will never let you down. It is no other than the bodycon dress.

This dress style is everywhere. Some women feel that tight dresses are simply not for them but contrary to that belief, bodycon dress styles flatter the curves and give the illusion of a perfect waist. These stylish women dresses have been around for a few seasons now and when worn correctly, they have the ability to prep up one’s look in an instant.  The bodycon dress adds a certain oomph to the closet and wearing it with confidence will surely level up the allure. Wearing a bodycon dress adds a statement and confidence as well.

Below are some figure-flattering bodycon dresses that will rock the fashion world.

A bodycon dress can be worn to literally any event you can think of.  Layer it with a leather jacket, statement accessories and a pair of boots for a night out.  For a casual look, opt for a denim jacket and sneakers. In the summer month, you can still wear a bodycon dress with strappy sandals and layered jewelry. As you can see, the possibilities are endless.

Celebrities like Dua Lipa and Kim Kardashian have been wearing every possible version of the bodycon trend.  The bodycon dresses will hug your curves and flaunt your best assets.  They are edgy, versatile and bring out the best in everybody. So if you haven’t got one yet, hurry, shop for one now from Dressvy and flaunt it.

Covid Vaccination For Teens In Malaysia

The Covid vaccination for teens below the age of 18 have begun in Malaysia. Starting from 23 September 2021, the teens can take the vaccination at the specific 156 PPV centers. There were a lot of confusion when the government released the news about this vaccination exercise because it was mentioned that children can walk into the PPV to get the jab.

So, eager parents started to make a beeline to the centers to get their children vaccinated.  However, they were turned away because apparently, only children who are sitting for their IGCSE or SPM this year and those in higher learning institutions can walk in while being accompanied by a parent or guardian for consent. Other children will have to get the appointments for their vaccination from their respective schools and are not allowed to walk-in to any integrated or public PPV.

While many of my friends’ kids were starting to get their vaccination appointments early this week, there was no news from missy’s school. So on Friday afternoon, I was whatsapping the school’s admin and asked them about this.  I was told that they were working closely with the Ministry of Health and they were not sure why they have not received anything yet.

Then at 5.30pm, I received a whatsapp broadcast message from the school that students who have registered to take the vaccination with the school and are age between 17 and 16 will have to go to the Civic Center the next day at 10am for their vaccination.  Yes, THE NEXT DAY. Talk about last minute. Anyway, we are so happy that we finally got the appointment. Right after receiving the message, it was a mad dash as I have to print out the consent form and filled it up and then arrange how to get to the MBPJ Civic Center in PJ New Town as hubs was busy.

So the next morning, Missy and I arrived at the Civic Center at 9am although her appointment was at 10am.  There was already a long line outside the gate and it was getting longer. Luckily missy’s friend who went inside called her and told her that we can actually walk into the center and wait because this is under the school vaccination programme.

We were directed to this tent and stood here waiting for the 9am appointments to go in first. Once it was our turn, we were asked to move to another tent which has chairs for us to sit.

That is us sitting under the hot sun.  The tent was not long enough to cover everyone so half of us were sitting with no roof over our heads.  Luckily it was still morning at around 10+ so the sun was not that hot that day.

I decided to take a photo of the lovely sky.

After sitting there for about 15 minutes, we were asked to move up a few times and it was a relieved because we get to go under the tent and there were fans to cool down. Then we were given the consent forms to fill in.  As we have already printed out our own, we were told to hold on to the new forms as they come with a number.  This is the number that is used to call the kids when they go into the hall so that the staff can check their IC Number and the MySejahtera app.

Parents are asked to leave the kids as soon as they enter the hall for verification because they want to prevent overcrowding.  The parents are ushered into the theatre hall to wait for the children.  When the children come into the theatre hall, the parent will then walk with them to the stage where the medical officers will ask about the health of the children and then sign the consent form.  Then after the kids will have to go into the vaccination center to get their jab while the parents wait at the exit. This part was pretty fast and Ashley came out in less than 30 minutes (including 15 minutes of observation after she took her jab).

She recorded a video of the vaccination process 🙂

This is the photobooth area at the exit.

The whole process took about 2 and half hours because we were there an hour earlier.  So, it is best to be there maybe 15 to 30 minutes before the appointment time. We are happy that missy got her first dose.  She was so looking forward to getting her vaccination yesterday as she can see her friends.  Her 2nd dose will be in 3 weeks’ time.
