My hubby is a big fan of meat. Whether they are red or white, he loves them all. So much so that I call him Viking. When I was chatting with Elaine, she asked me if I meant Hagar the Horrible. Remember this beloved cartoon character who appears in the newspapers? hahahahahahaha.

So, Mr. Hagar went out and bought himself a bbq grill a couple of days ago.

This means only one thing ……………

So this weekend, besides the usual housework and checking out the best thrush treatments for a friend, I’ll be eating some bbq food. We are having some friends over for the ‘official opening’ of the bbq grill….hahahahahahah. Hope you all have something fun planned. Happy Weekend!

We had an early birthday celebration for Ashley yesterday. Her birthday is not until next week. It was a joint birthday celebration with Annie’s twins, Fearles and Cruz. Our kids were born on the same day and same year
We organized a picnic at TTDI park and invited a few friends. Below are some photos taken by Annie at the picnic :-

Dim sum and kuih

Mee siam, nasi lemak, nuggets, konyaku jellies, dips and drinks

The birthday kids with friends

Angy Birds Birthday cuppies

All the children played at the nearby stream before the cuppies blowing session.

My soon-to-be 6 year old. She woke up with a fever before the picnic and I was worried because I know she’ll be running around the park under the hot sun. She skipped school today and her paed said her throat is a bit red

Last but not least, her birthday pressies.
Thank you Annie, Elaine, Patsy, Jacss, Sasha, Shireen & Wai Mann for the lovely presents. Thank you again for coming. Without your presence, it would not have been such fun as we had yesterday.

After hearing so much about Food Foundry, we decided to try it out last weekend with our friends. Food Foundry is located at Happy Mansion, a place which we haven’t been before, despite staying in KL for so long. We were a tad surprised when we reached Food Foundry because it was located on the ground floor of an apartment block and it wasn’t an air-conditioned restaurant
Nevertheless, it is a cozy place and food is good. We ordered a variety of food which include their famous Chicken Cordon Bleu, Nasi Lemak, Nasi Ulam and Mille Crepes of course. Alas, my digital camera died on me before I could snap photos of our food. Never mind, we went again yesterday night because hubs wanted to try other things in the menu.

The restaurant is divided into two sections as it occupies 2 shoplots. We sat at this section which has a lovely hand painted wall.

“Where’s my food mom?”

Ashley’s Chocolate Mille Crepe.

Yummy

Hubs ordered the Mediterranean Chicken. A rather small portion and nothing much to shout about. He said he prefers the Nasi dishes.

I ordered the Ham and Mushroom Carbonara. It was pretty good but fattening *yikes*
We including our friends like this place a lot so I guess we will be eating there more often

Today, we made our way to Taman Tun Dr. Ismail’s Market to watch the lion dance performance at Annie’s invitation. We missed it last year. Ashley is extremely fond of the lion dance this year so when we told her this morning that we are going to watch them, she was very excited. Elaine and Patsy together with their families were there too. Oh, we also bumped into Agnes and her pretty girls
We spent 5 hours in TTDI today and watched a few performances by different troupes. Had a great time!

Two lions inside the market
When we were home, Ashley did her own lion dance performance and got us to watch it

Just got back the reunion with my besties. Had a fabulous time laughing and chatting. I managed to sleep for about 3 hours while my friends stayed up all night. Some of them still went shopping today despite not getting any sleep last night. Shopaholics!

Took this photo at Lot 10 after I met everyone yesterday. Love it! Can you spot the one wearing a pink sandal? Yup, the lil missy came along with me to the sleepover. She was happy to stay at the hotel
Hopefully our next reunion will be in 2 year’s time or earlier. We missed you, Lena and Mabel!

I have an awesome group of girlfriends. We have known each other since primary school. They have been with me through thick and thin. Over the years, things have changed. We have taken different paths, some of us got married and have children, or living in different parts of the world. Eventhough we haven’t seen each other much over the years but every time we talk, we can still pick up our conversation right where we left off. Tomorrow, we are having our reunion aka sleepover at one of the hotels in the city. A couple of them are flying in to KL just for this reunion. There will be lots of happy tears when we meet as some of us have not seen each other for more than 10 years. Time to catch up, laugh, eat and maybe a lil shopping(like old times) for cigars for their spouses and clothes for their kids. I am so looking forward to seeing the girls. I am extremely blessed and thankful to have my best friends.

Thanks everyone for all the birthday wishes in Facebook and smses
I really appreciate all the sweet wishes. To celebrate my 30th birthday, we had steamboat dinner tonight. It’s my favourite

A lovely Esprit black purse from a dear friend

A beautiful ring from another dear friend. I heart all my pressies

we (Ashley, hubs and I) finally stepped foot into the theater. Yup, it has been that long since we to the movies. As for Ashley, yesterday was her first time in the theater…LOL! So pathetic eh? Ashley told us that she would like to watch Rapunzel so we took this opportunity to hit the theater for it. We reached the mall very early as Ashley has her art class there.

Toys R us was having a toys galore at the concourse so the lil missy went to check out the huge castle first.

Guess who joined Ashley at the art class yesterday? Cute Amber
After class, all of us went for lunch and then walked around the mall for a bit. We watched the 3.30pm show with Elaine, Danny and Amber
Of course we have to sit between the 2 chatterboxes or else no one will be able to watch the entire show in peace
Rapunzel ended at 5.10pm. It was very entertaining and we all enjoyed it. I must say Ashley did pretty well since it’s her first time. She ate popcorns while watching and occasionally turned to look at Amber and whispered to me, asking me to let her sit beside Amber

While walking to get our car after dinner, we stopped by the concourse as there were Christmas carolers belting out lovely Christmas tunes.

My not-very-shy daughter was busy grooving and dancing away. She even prompted some younger kids there to dance along
We finally left the mall at around 7.30pm and boy am I tired after spending 9 hours there.

Elaine suggested a zoo trip last Wednesday since it was a Public Holiday. Ashley has not been to the zoo before and she was so excited. We only told her about the trip the night before so that she won’t keep asking about it
On that day, she woke up real early and asked us to wake up fast so we can all go to the zoo

Ashley, Amber and Sharon at their first stop – The Giraffes

They were in awed

Ashley was looking forward to seeing the Flamingoes. It’s her favourite because they are pink. However, we saw these birds which I think are storks? I told her they are flamingoes….hhahahahahaha. Wrong info.
We saw many animals that day. Here are some photos taken from Elaine’s.

Tapir. Such a cute animal.

The lion

Water lizards but they look like komodo dragons to me

Good friends
We managed to see penguins, reptiles and some mammals like cows, deers, etc. Oh, we sat on the buggy too and it took us around to see the camels, hippos, flamingoes before stopping at the amphitheater to catch the last bit of the seal show. It was almost 12 when we left the zoo. The trip to the zoo was very enjoyable and the weather was nice to us. However Ashley was quite upset that she didn’t get to see the zebras and orang utans. We plan to go back again soon.

Ashley is such a lucky girl. She received another present a few days ago

The present is from dear Aunty Pei Yi, HQ and QQ

It is a beautiful knapsack which was handmade by Aunty Pei Yi. I love the pink polka dot fabric which is just perfect for a girl who loves pink. Another great thing about the knapsack is the dog applique which was handsewn onto it by Pei Yi. Ashley loves dogs and her eyes lit up as soon as she saw it.

This knapsack is called BowWow and is available for sale at nivniv Handmade. Made from 100% Indian cotton, this knapsack features a huge pocket on the inside as well as matching cotton fabric as lining.

Here is Ashley using the BowWow knapsack. She brought it to school yesterday as it was her tea party day. She said she wants to show her friends her cute Labrador bag
Thank you very much Pei Yi, HQ & QQ. Everyone who saw the bag exclaimed how beautiful the bag is. This delightful knapsack is perfect for the library, swimming, music lessons and more. The applique picture on the bag can be personalized according to what your child likes.
If you are looking for a unique gift ideas for children, then you may want to check out this BowWow knapsack at nivniv Handmade.
