My Naughty Husky Strikes Again

If you have been following my blog, you would know how naughty Sheldon is.  I have blogged about it here and here. A few days ago when I came downstairs, hubs said to me that I need to check outside the porch and there will be lots of work waiting for me to do. Guess what? Sheldon has dug a flower pot and pushed it all the way to the gate. Then he walked everywhere with his paws filled with soil. Aarggh! Can you imagine how dirty the whole porch is.

Look at his smudged face and dirty paws. I didn’t scold him because it is no use. Ashley showered him later that day. It turned out that my mom had added fertilizer to the pot and this fella could smell something in there and decided to dig everything out.

Look at that naughty face!

Cooper was like this too, always up to mischief but he has passed that phase. He used to bit and chew shoes and just about anything he can get hold of. He also loved to argue with me.  Now he doesn’t do all that but just remain as a clingy dog who loves attention.

She Is 18

Someone is officially an adult today! Can’t believe she is 18. As today she has classes in college and is only coming home in the evening, we had a lil celebration with her over the weekend. Her aunt ordered a cute bear chocolate cake for her on Saturday. Then on Sunday, she wanted to visit Kinokuniya at KLCC so we went there with her. Later that night, our friends treated her to a dinner at Uncle Jang, one of her favourite Korean restaurant.

We don’t have any plans today except that I am going to surprise her by ordering her favorite salted egg yolk pasta for dinner. Her friends in college is celebrating it with her so it’s all good.

Easy Roasted Tomato Pasta

Most days, I run out of ideas on what to cook. As my family seldom eat rice, the usual dinner consists of noodles, pastas, burgers, chicken or pork chops, wraps and etc. Missy and hubs are big fans of pastas and I cook that every week. I would buy the Prego pasta sauces and sometimes make aglio olio pasta sauce from scratch. Some time back, I decided to making my own roasted tomato pasta sauce.

Bought a whole bag of cherry tomatoes and some thyme and got to work.  It is a very easy homemade sauce recipe and flavourful too.  Placed the tomatoes into a pan lined with baking sheet. Drizzled the tomatoes with olive oil and add garlic, thyme and a generous pinch of salt. Put them in a hot oven and roast until the tomatoes have released the juices and the skins started to blister. Once tomatoes are soft, juicy and lightly charred, I switched off the oven. Just toss some onto the cooked pasta and it’s done.

This is very quick and easy way to whip up a pasta meal.  After they have cooled down, I transferred the roasted tomatoes into a glass container to be kept in the fridge for the next pasta meal. I didn’t add any sugar so I can also have this roasted tomato dish with my konjac noodles or slather some onto my keto bread.

Color Blind Lenses Are Available In Malaysia For Ishihara Test

A person who is color-blind has trouble with distinguishing some colors like red and green or yellow and blue. There are those who can only see black and white. Many jobs or professions such as dentists, doctors, policemen, pilots, design professionals, electricians and lab assistants as well as those related to the fashion industry require people with perfect color vision. Job applicants are required to take color blindness test.

Unfortunately, there is no treatment for color blindness or color deficiency. The good news is that there are special glasses or lenses that can help people to pass the color vision test such as the Ishihara test in medical exam and driving license test in Malaysia. These color vision lenses are available at Usj Optometrist in Taipan, Subang Jaya.

These lenses are available in the form of contact lens and ophthalmic / glasses lens. Those who need to go for exam will choose the contact lens option. When taken good care of, these color blind contact lenses will last for years as they are not like the normal disposable contact lenses which are easily damaged and run out of shape. The color vision deficiency contact lenses are “hidden” on the dark iris, and not easily noticeable even at close distance.

The contact lenses are medically proven effective & FDA approved. These lenses have the moon crescent laser engraving mark on them as proof of authenticity as there are many imitation products, especially on online platforms.

The color vision deficiency lenses are used to help pass Ishihara test as well as for performing most daily activities as usual. They will help produce almost similar perception as perceived by normal people. It will not affect the wearer’s visual acuity, yet it improves the contrast of their vision.

Usj Optometrist has ready stock for the color vision deficiency lenses for all level of colour vision deficiency. Those who are interested will undergo eye tests and trial fit with the color vision lenses to make sure they can pass the Ishihara colour plates test. They achieve 100% successful rate of helping many color vision deficiency people to pass the Ishihara test, in both Malaysian JPJ driving license test and in the normal medical exam.

Happy Mother’s Day

I can’t believe it that I have not updated my blog for over 12 days. I have been so busy with work and home that I didn’t realize that I have sort of ‘abandoned’ my blog. This year’s Mother’s Day is kinda fun as missy and I spent the Saturday at Mid Valley. I had wanted to go to the mall by myself for some Me time and she had said that she wanted to stay home to study. When she realized that it is the Mother’s Day weekend, she wanted to spend it with me. We walked around the mall for almost 5 hours and clocked in more than 10k steps on Saturday.

We had lunch at this new ‘eggy’ restaurant – Tamgo-en that sells all things eggs. Missy was egg-cited to see this egg-specialty restaurant as it was reviewed on TikTok. She had the Tamago-en Oyako don which is a rice bowl with chicken and egg simmered in bonito sauce while I ordered the fried chicken dish.  Food was good but my portion was small so we went to McD for some snacks later.

I went to all my favourite stores but alas, I didn’t get anything for myself. After all the shopping I can get from the stalls in my neighbourhood’s market, I didn’t want to pay so much for the clothes at the mall.  Will post about my latest loots from the market soon *wink*.

Today, we celebrated Mother’s Day at my favorite Korean restaurant – Uncle Jang. We all love the spicy Dakgalbi that makes our stomach burn. It is the best meal for today’s celebration and nothing beats having Korean food to make my tummy happy. We forgot to take photos of our food these 2 days. Bummer.

Happy Mother’s To All The Wonderful and Beautiful Mommies out there.

My Favourite Kind Of Lunch

Last Saturday after sending missy to the dentist, we decided to have lunch in that area.  We normally have udon and kariage chicken at Sanuki Udon but that day missy said she would like to go to a cafe. So we headed to Red Kettle. She couldn’t remember this place although we have brought her there when she was younger.

We were lucky to get a table as Red Kettle is always full. Missy was surprised at the high price tag of the food and so was I. Anyway, we don’t dine there often so it’s ok. She told me that she will pay for her food because she has money which she saved from the one week’s allowance that I gave her. She’s in college now and I am giving her one lump sum per month to spend on food so she would have to manage her fund wisely.

She ordered spaghetti which is her favourite and also she said it’s cheaper than the others. She also ordered a cup of hot chocolate. There were not many things that I could eat there as I am on low carb so I opted for Shakshuka. I love anything that is soupy and has eggs.

Here’s my lunch and it came with a few slices of toast. I gave them to missy.

I also ordered a cup of cappuccino.

It was a good lunch and we had a nice chat. I love spending moments like this with her to chat about everything under the sun. Ever since she started college (which was only a week ago), I feel that she has grown up a lot.

A New Mural By Julia Volchkova

Recently while walking at my neighbourhood, I spotted this new mural on the wall of newly opened Optimax, an eye specialist provider. It wasn’t finished yet when I saw it and as you can see below, there were a few chairs placed near it to prevent cars from parking and blocking the artist who was still painting this mural.

Upon further checking, I saw this this big VA sign on the side and discovered that this mural was painted by none other than Julia Volchkova, an award-winning Russian artist. She has worked on street murals in George Town such as the Boat Man, Indian Water Bearer, Old Woman Mural and more. She has also drawn the Goldsmith Mural in Chinatown, KL.

Impressive huh? This mural, titled “Loving Family” was commissioned by Optimax to promote the awareness of eye health.

Check it out if you are in the vicinity.

Doing Seoul

So some of my besties are holidaying in Seoul right now and as I couldn’t join them this trip, I have asked them to include me into their Whatsapp chat group. There are 9 of us in a group and we have known each other since we were in primary school. Yes, we have known each other like forever. Whenever we go on a trip where others cannot join, we would create a separate Whatsapp chat group.  This trip to Seoul was amongst 3 of them and some of their kids. I asked to be included into the chat group because, you know, I love everything Korean especially after watching all the K-dramas and I want to join in the fun eventhough I wasn’t there with them physically.

My friends have been sharing photos of their shopping adventure and of course, the food! After seeing all the good food like Korean fried chicken, Egg drop toast, Jajangmyeon and kimchi jiggae, I can’t stand it any longer. Last night, my family and I headed to Bulgogi House for dinner. We love the buffet dinner at Bulgogi House as it comes with unlimited pork, chicken, kimchi pancake, Tteokbokki, steam egg and banchan

The Korean steam egg, Ashley’s favorite Korean ramen that she cooks in the kimchi jiggae and a plate of unlimited bbq pork and chicken.

Kimchi pancake, kimchie jiggae with unlimited sliced pork and sliced chicken.

It was a good dinner and now my tummy is happy.

Enjoying My Me Time Once A Week

For once a week,  I would send missy to her skateboarding class. While she is taking her 1 hour class, I would go for my exercise. This is the quiet time that I really enjoy because it is just me alone with music blasting on my earphones.  I love being by myself, sweating it out and shut out from the world.

One of the paths that I take.

After I have done my walk, I would head over to the bagel store and get myself a cup of cappuccino. Then I would walk over to get missy and we will go home, get change and then head out for lunch. This is a nice weekly routine for us.

This was taken during one of the weekends after class.
