My Silly Furbaby

I looked out from the door a few days ago and saw this.  Actually this is the first time I have seen Sheldon sleeping sunbathing on the porch. Usually he would be lying under the shed. I thought the long fur would make him feel hot.

Our first baby, Buffy a rottweiler loves to sunbathe but not huskies. I have never seen Cooper doing this either. I wasn’t sure what was going on with this guy that day. He is full of surprises.

Aircon Service Offered by AirconMalaysia.Com

Having an air conditioner is a lifesaver in a tropical country like ours. Temperatures can soar up to 33 degree Celsius or higher during the daytime and go down to around  27 degrees Celsius at night. We rely on them in our daily lives to keep us comfortable so that we can work more efficiently whether we are at work or home and have a good rest at night.

We all know how inconvenient it can be when the air conditioner breaks down. In order to avoid this problem, regular maintenance is important. Many of us tend to only service the air conditioning units when they break down. Do you know that regular servicing and aircon cleaning once every 6 months is important to keep the unit in top working condition?

When we do not service our air conditioning units regularly, it can affect our health. The aircon filter is filled with dust after a while and may cause condensation which leads to mold and bacteria growing inside. This can be harmful to those who suffer from allergies.

Aircon service is important to ensure that the units last longer and work optimally. Without regular servicing, the unit will work harder and this can lead to problems with the compressor.  Replacing a compressor is expensive. So if you want to save money, remember to have them service regularly as well-maintained air conditioners can also help to cut down your electricity bill.

Hiring an experienced and reliable technician to keep your air conditioning units in tip-top condition is another way to help you save money and energy. Busy Busy Busy

I just realized that I haven’t been updating my blog for the past 2 weeks. No excuses but things have been pretty hectic at work and at home.  On top of working full time, I have some part-time work and also taking care of a household that consists of 3 people and 2 dogs. Every day there is a lot of poo and pee to clean and wash.

My furbaby, Sheldon, the naughty one likes to spring a surprise every now and then like the one below.  Woke up one morning to find that he has dug out my mom’s favorite plant.  This means that I have to put the soil and plant back into the pot and wash everything away. The soil is hard to wash as it leaves a brown stain.

I wonder when Sheldon will grow out of this digging phase and have less work for me.

A New Studying Method

A few nights ago when I went into missy’s room, she was doing some past year exam papers. Suddenly I heard the sound of some waves coming from her laptop. I asked her what was she listening to and she said it is a recording of the wave sound crashing on the shore.

She said the sound of waves crashing is very calming and helps her to relax. Right now she is having her mock exam and she has been studying hard for the past few weeks, even during the 3-week holiday break last month.  I guess the sound of waves lapping on the shore is soothing to the brain and helps people to experience lower stress and less anxiety. Well, I am all for anything that can help to calm her.

Hidden Talents During Lockdown

Recently a friend posted in Facebook saying that many people have discovered their hidden talents during multiple lockdowns. We have seen master chefs, fitness fanatics and more all over social media. Hers was the green thumb and she has been decorating her home with different plants.  She has a beautiful garden and it looks like a green sanctuary now.  So she asked what hidden talents has everyone else discovered.

My answer is ………………………. .. I can do Kdrama marathon on Netflix!

10 Best Kdramas Available On Netflix In 2021 - OtakuKart

I would have never watched Kdrama if not for the lockdown. My friends have been talking about Kdramas for years but I was never interested at all until I watched my very first Korean movie – Parasite.  Then during lockdown I decided to check out the highly popular Crash Landing On You – CLOY.  And as they all say, the rest is history!

I have watched CLOY like more than 6 times. Yeah I know I am crazy. I thought I won’t be able to watch another kdrama after that because nothing can replace the emptiness I felt after completing that CLOY. However, that’s in the past now. I have watched many awesome Kdramas such as follows:-

1) Reply 1988 (one of the best in my opinion and I have watched it a couple of times)
2) Prison Playlist
3) Hospital Playlist
4) Love, Marriage and Divorce
5) Boys Over Flowers
6) Itaewon Class
7) Devil Judge
8) Hometown Cha Cha Cha
9) Our Blues
10) Vincenzo
11) Oh My Venus
12) Penthouse
13) When Camelia Blooms
14) Mine
15) Move To Heaven
15) Flower of Evil
16) Taxi Driver
17) The King’s Affection
18) The World of The Married
19) Mystic Pop-Up Bar
20) Thirty Nine
21) DP
22) Remarriages & Desires

and more.

Currently, I am watching The Extraordinary Attorney Woo and also Ghost Doctor. They are so enjoyable and I love the storyline.

Actually I discovered another hidden talent during the lockdown and it is to cook kimchi jiggae or budae jiggae. It is all because of K-dramas but I am not complaining *chuckle*

K Market Korean Grocery Store

Recently we discovered a Korean mart in Sri Petaling and we quickly checked it out.              K Market is a chain of Korean supermarkets that sells fresh fruits, vegetables, lots of Korean food like kimchi, tteokbokki, Korean noodles, beverages, pots and pans, household items, snacks and more.

Besides all the above, K Market also offers dine-in service. We can order yummy snacks and meals made to order just like the Korean street food stalls 🇰🇷. There are udong, ramyun, corndogs, Korean chicken, Emouk, Tteokbokki, Gimbap and more. Masita! They also have cappuccino, latte and Americano. We have been going there for Korean fried chicken and they are delicious. I like the Soy Garlic chicken.

There is a microwave available for those who want to buy the Korean noodle in a bowl and heat them up to eat there.  If you are a fan of Korean food, you may check out K Market Facebook page for an outlet near you.

A Weekend In Downtown

Missy has been wanting to visit the pop-up stalls (Serba Serbi Market) at Central Market after seeing the event being shared on TikTok so we took a trip downtown last Saturday to check it out.  We took the LRT to Pasar Seni and it is about 5 mins walk to Central Market. Alas, the Serba Serbi weekend market decided to take a break that weekend.  What a bummer.

We decided to walk around Petaling Street instead and then check out RexKL again. Am surprised to see many new cafes and I spotted this cute mural above the Bubblebee cafe.

While walking around, I stumbled upon a shop selling baskets and I can’t resist these cute mini rattan baskets. They look like plastic baskets that hold the piggie biscuits during Mooncake festival.  Each basket cost RM2 so I bought 5. Not sure what I will do with them yet though.

Here is missy posing outside RexKL. Behind her is a cute wagon/store selling pau.

We had lunch at RexKL and headed home at noon as it was getting too hot to walk around.  We hope to be able to catch the Serba Serbi market soon.

My First Monstera Plant

I love plants that have big green leaves and I have always wanted a Monstera.  If you have one, you would know that this plant is not cheap. I got a surprise from my cousin-in-law one day who showed up at my house with this beautiful Monstera in a woven basket. She has one in her condo and propagated this baby for me because I commented how beautiful her Monstera is.

As this tropical plant thrives well in bright but indirect sunlight, so I have placed it indoor near my main door. It gets a lot of indirect sun from that space. My cousin-in-law has told me that when it comes to watering the monstera, I should let it dry out between waterings. Only water when the top soil is dry. I am actually scared of over watering or underwatering my plants because some of my air plants have died in my hands.

So far this baby is growing well and new leaves have sprouted.

Took My 2nd Booster

On Tuesday, hubs and I went to Pavillion Bukit Jalil to get our 2nd booster. I read about this PPV on the AstraZeneca FB page and we decided to have our second booster there.  No appointment is needed and everyone can walk in to the Pavillion Mall Bukit Jalil PPV which is located on the 5th floor at the Exhibition Center. Only Pfizer is given out here.

We arrived at 3.20 pm and there were at least 100 people ahead of us. From the photo above, the queue shown is only half of the actual queue.  To get to the PPV, we have to turn left and left again.  Some people posted on the FB page that they only waited for 30 minutes for the booster but I guess now that many people are aware of this place, the queue is much longer.

Hubs and I stood for 1.30 minutes before we reached the PPV. There were 3 counters for registration.  The staff will look at our MySejahtera and key in the appointment and create a vaccination status.  Once done, we were led to the inside of the small hall.

Once inside, we waited for our turns to take the vaccination.  The wait is quite fast actually, maybe around 15 to 20 mins. There was 6 staff giving the vaccination to the public. I spoke to the nice lady who gave me the jab and they have been working nonstop.  Hubs and I were done by 5.10pm.

Now comes the side effects of the 2nd booster.  My left eye was slightly swollen 2 hours after the jab.  This happened during my first booster too.  My first and second jabs were AstraZeneca while the first and second boosters were Pfizer.  Later that night, my head felt heavy. After putting on some eye drops, the swelling went away when I woke up the next day. However, my head still felt heavy.  Other than that, I am ok.  As for hubs, his side effects were really bad.  He said of all the vaccinations he took, this is the worst.  He experienced body aches, and fever and was very tired. The symptoms appeared the next day and he knocked off early. He even got body chill in the middle of the night. Today, he said he feels a lot better.

If you are interested in getting a second booster, you may check out Pavillion Bukit Jalil or Paradigm Mall. I am not sure how long this PPV will be giving out the vaccination though.

Boosting My Health With Vitamins

I usually do not take any supplements but since the pandemic arrived two years ago, I have been taking these to boost my immune system.

They are Berocca, a vitamin C soluble, Holistica Vitamin C soluble which I plan to take once the Berocca is finished and Oxxynovia, a fruity beverage mix that consists of grapes and blackcurrant.  They are full of Vitamin C.

Not in this photo are Vitamin D, Tiger Mushroom and also AF8 by Salutem Supplement which is a natural all-purpose L-Arginine-rich dietary food supplement.  Af8 contains, L-Citrulline, Vitamin C, Beetroot Extract, Grape Seed Extract, Resveratrol Extract, Vitamin K2 and Vitamin D3. AF-8 helps the body improve and support the well-being of the cardiovascular system.

Its benefit is as follows:-

Improve energy levels
Reduce fatigue and tiredness
Improve sleep patterns
Promote a healthy immune system
Improve skin health
Reduce Cholesterol
Maintain healthy blood pressure
Reduce the negative effects of the menopause
Support the increase of lean muscle
Reduce virus infection severity

That’s a lot of supplements huh? I don’t take Vit C daily as my body tends to get heaty and I would develop mouth ulcers. So I usually take it 3 x a week.  Supplements can bridge the gap between the nutrients our body needs and the food that is lacking. Taking supplements is an important step for good health.

Do you take any supplements?
